Rob Zweifel took a big leap of faith Nov. 17.
On that date the Northampton resident and his wife, Chris, opened Radiant Church located in Easton.
At the age of 22, Zweifel said, he began his career at the post office as a letter carrier. At the same time, he also was working toward his associates degree in music.
"One day, I decided to take my future more seriously and enroll in a bible study group. It piqued my interest," he said.Since 1998, Zweifel has been playing in a Christian rock band called REZ Music Ministry.
"I attended the creative festival, where Christian bands performed, and I was impressed," said Zweifel, who remembers thinking, he could do that.
"It was a wake-up call," Zweifel said.
In 2008, Zweifel became a worship pastor at Gospel Church in Northampton and, in 2009, he became a worship director. Then, in 2011, he became an ordained minister. This year, he left Gospel Church to open Radiant Church, he said.
Chris Zweifel does all the administrative work for the church. She also welcomes and greets people when they arrive.
When the first newcomer arrived for services on the first day, she said, she got very emotional, realizing the church had become a reality.
"Since I was a young girl I felt called to ministry," said Chris Zweifel, who has held several positions within the local church. "I am glad to serve Radiant Church as a lay leader and to also fill the role of administrative assistant."
The Zweifels have six children – Molly 9, Luke 13, Chloe 15, Lizzie Lee, 17, Marina, 19, and Rebecca 21. They all support their parents mission in ministry, the Zweifels said.
