Daniel W. Haas

Daniel W. Haas, 59, of North Whitehall Township, died Nov. 21, 2013, in his home.

He and his wife Pamela S. (Wehr) Haas observed their 39th wedding anniversary on Nov. 9.

Born Oct. 19, 1954, in Fountain Hill, he was the son of the late Donald W. and Beverly J. (Yehl) Haas.

He and his wife were the former owners of Overlook Orchards Inc., Strawberry Acres, North Whitehall, from 1984 to May of this year.

He was a member of the Lehigh County Farm Bureau.

Active in the life of his church and community, he was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Laurys Station, and also attended Living Stone Fellowship, New Tripoli, a life member of the Laurys Station Fire Company, he served there as assistant chief from 1979-84 and then as chief from 1984-85.

He was a member of Gideons International, past member of Yokefellow and former coach of the Laurys Station Baseball Team.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Melanie J., wife of Ensign Eric S. Makovsky, of Virginia Beach, Va.; son Scott A. and his wife, Amy (Rohn) Haas of Nazareth; brother Wayne D. of Coplay; sister Cheryl A., wife of Jeffrey Reinert, of Coplay; grandchildren Ida C., Daniel J., Henry T. and Abigail J. Makovsky.
