Western Salisbury Fire Department firefighters train Nov. 18 for the kind of fires they hope are few and far between - flammable liquids fires, such as those fires from an overturned truck tanker or railroad tanker spilling burning flammable fuels. This type of fire requires special suppression and firefighting techniques. With flammable gas fires, containment of the burning gases can be the first priority so escaping gas fumes do not not spread and become a greater hazard.
