CENTRAL CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOL COLUMN '40 Hours' retreat scheduled for Dec. 5, 6

Central Catholic High School is preparing for the celebration of its 11th annual "40 Hours" retreat. This is a two-day retreat celebrated at CCHS Dec. 5 and 6.

During this retreat, students spend time in Adoration and celebration of the Eucharist. The retreat provides the opportunity for reflection and prayer. Students participate in worship and prayer over the course of the two days. The 40 Hours event also helps to fulfill the two retreats students are required to attend each year.

The celebration begins 9 a.m. Dec. 5 with a Mass in Rockne Hall where the Eucharist is consecrated. Following the Mass, teachers and students partake in a procession around the high school with the school's chaplain, Father Hoffa, in the lead carrying the Eucharist. It ends in Masson Auditorium, where each student will get the chance to observe a period of quiet prayer throughout the school day.

Students will also listen to this year's guest speaker, Scott Anthony when not in Adoration. There will be an open praise session 7 to 9 p.m. in Masson Auditorium where anyone who wishes to can partake in the celebration.

The retreat continues Dec. 6 where students will visit the Adoration throughout the day for more prayer and reflection. This amazing retreat closes noon Dec. 6. During these 40 hours of prayer and thanksgiving, students are given the chance to take a break from the normal school schedule and spend time in quiet thought. Parents, family members and friends are invited to join the CCHS family for this celebration.
