Voters elect Maranki, Frantz, Longacre; re-elect Oldenwelder to NASD board

Three new faces are expected to join the Northampton Area School District board of education in 2014.

Roy J. Maranki, Republican, was the big vote-getter in Northampton Area School District board of education results in the Nov. 5 general election, receiving 1,551 votes, or 99.8 percent, with two write-in votes, of 1,553 votes cast in Region 1.

In Region 2, Charles F. Frantz Jr., Republican, received 1,400 votes, or 50.5 percent, and incumbent NASD school Director Judy Odenwelder, Republican, received 1,362 votes, or 49.1 percent, of 2,770 votes. There were eight unnamed write-in votes.

In Region 3, Charles J. "Chuck" Longacre, Republican, received 1,353 votes, or 99.7 percent, with three write-in votes, of 1,356 votes.

Longacre succeeds school board Vice President Jane Erdo, who lost to him in the May primary.

Maranki succeeds school Director Robert Koch, who didn't seek re-election.

Frantz succeeds school Director Cory Fenstermaker, who didn't seek re-election.

Here is a breakdown by precinct in the NASD school board election.

In Region 1, Maranki received 99.8 percent of the vote in Allen Township, 100 percent at Lehigh Township Central, 100 percent of votes cast in Lehigh Township Danielsville, 100 percent in Lehigh Township Pennsville, 99.4 percent Lehigh Township Treichlers, and 100 percent, cast in Lehigh Township Northwestern. Opposition votes were write-ins.

In Region 2, Odenwelder received 50.5 percent of the votes and Charles F. Frantz Jr., Republican, received 49.2 percent in the East Allen Township Western precinct. In East Allen Township Eastern, Odenwelder received 49 percent to Frantz's 50 percent. In Northampton Borough 1, Odenwelder received 49.2 percent and Frantz received 50.2 percent. In Northampton Borough 2, Odenwelder received 49.3 percent and Frantz received 50.6 percent. In Northampton Borough 3, Odenwelder received 48.2 percent and Frantz received 51.3 percent. In Northampton Borough 4, Odenwelder received 48.6 percent and Frantz received 51.3 percent

In Region 3, Charles J. Longacre received 98.7 percent of the Bath Borough vote, 100 percent of the Chapman Borough vote, 100 percent of votes cast in Moore Township Beersville, 99.5 percent of the votes cast in Moore Township Eastern, 100 percent in Moore Township Klecknersville and 100 percent of votes cast in Moore Township Point Phillips. Less than one percent indicates write-in votes were cast.
