Railroading is the subject of former train engineer Michael Bednar's lecture and book-signing, 1 p.m. Nov. 23, Lehigh Valley Heritage Museum, 432 W. Walnut St., Allentown.
The program is being held in conjunction with the museum's "Holiday Model Railroad Exhibit," through Jan. 12, which includes The Polar Express, Thomas the Tank Engine, and other train layouts.
Bednar, a nationally-recognized authority on railroads in Pennsylvania, has authored 11 books and written more than 50 articles for Railroad Press magazine.
"When he talks, you feel like you're on the train with him, and he takes you down the tracks," said Joseph Garrera, LVHM Executive Director.
Bednar began his railroad career in August 1966 at the age of 17. He rose from Towerman and Freight Agent to become a Yardmaster, a Train Dispatcher, and eventually a Locomotive Engineer. He retired in 2007 after 41 years.
At the end of his talk, Bednar will autograph copies of his books, which are available in the museum gift shop.
