The Priests, a classical musical group of three Roman Catholic priests from Northern Ireland, sing in concert, 7:30 p.m. Nov. 20, State Theatre for the Arts, 453 Northampton St., Easton.
Fathers Martin O'Hagan, Eugene O'Hagan and David Delargy have sold more than 2 million copies of their debut album. It secured them a place in the Guinness Book of World Records for having the fastest-selling classical debut of all time. The album went platinum in multiple countries, as did the follow-up album, "Harmony."
The trio has been singing together since the 1970s when they were students in grammar school. After signing a deal with SonyBMG in April 2008, they recorded their first album in Northern Ireland and Italy, where they recorded in St Peter's Basilica in The Vatican.
The Priests have sung around the world to audiences that have included the British Royal Family and the Irish president. The Priests shared a stage with the Pope in September 2010 before a crowd of 80,000 in Hyde Park, England, as millions watched on television.
The Priests take home only a small percentage of their profits. The majority of their royalties go into a charitable fund, which helps build schools in Cambodia, Uganda and Thailand, and is used to provide housing for retired priests and the homeless.
