St. John's Lutheran Church organist Stephen Williams performs a concert, 7:30 p.m. Nov 22, St. John's Lutheran Church, 37 S. Fifth St., Allentown, to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the dedication of St. John's pipe organ built by the Reuter Organ Company, Lawrence, Kan.
The concert program, part of the Arts at St. John's series that Williams directs, is said to be identical to that of a November 1993 concert when the organ was dedicated.
Included are Bach's "Toccata and Fugue in D minor" and three chorale preludes, "Wachet auf," "Meine Seele" and "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring"; Mendelssohn's Organ Sonata No. 6, which has as its theme variations based on "Pater noster" ("Our Father"); César Franck's "Choral No. 2 in B minor"; Petr Eben's "Moto ostinato"; Leo Sowerby's "Carillon," and Louis Vierne's "Carillon de Westminster."
A reception follows the concert.
