Lehigh Valley native and Parkland High School graduate Denise Donatelli, accompanied by Geoffrey Keezer on the piano, sings in concert, 7 and 9 p.m. Nov. 22, Lehigh University Zoellner Arts Center, 420 E. Packer Avenue, Bethlehem. The concert is Zoellner's first on-stage cabaret of the season.

Donatelli has recorded four albums, three of which have received Grammy nominations including: Best Jazz Vocal Album and Best Arrangement Accompanying a Vocalist.

The Los Angeles Jazz Society named her 2012 Jazz Vocalist of the Year.

Her family's background in music on both her mother and her father's side helped to spark her own interest in the musical world at a young age. She began playing the piano at the age of three and won first place for three consecutive years in National Federation of Music Club regional piano competitions.

As she became more involved in the music industry, her interests expanded from her classical piano training to the world of jazz.

Her first recording, "In the Company of Friends," brought her critical acclaim and recognition. Her second album, "What Lies Within," reached the Top 10 on the Jazz Week Radio Chart.

She received Grammy nominations for her most recent records, "When Lights are Low" and "Soul Shadows."

Donatelli's voice has been described by International Review of Music as: "A marvelous instrument, blessed with a honey and cognac sound, as well as effortless range."

George W. Harris of Jazz Weekly has written: "Denise Donatelli simply does everything right. Even better, her taste in material is immaculate."

John McDonough of Downbeat wrote: "Donatelli slides between the role of singer and musician with the cool acrobatics of an athlete."

Donatelli has performed across the United States at jazz festivals, jazz clubs, arts centers and with university jazz bands.

Her singing voice has been heard on the television shows "The Simpsons," "Frasier," "Card Sharks," as well as on the Turner Classic Movies channel.
