A sinkhole opened in a residential neighborhood in Lower Macungie Township Nov. 10, cutting water service to six homes and prompting water conservation measures for six more. Liesel Adam, media representative for the Lehigh County Authority, said Nov. 11 water service to the first six homes was restored through temporary water lines. Excavation and investigation of the sinkhole was expected to continue Monday. Residents of the six homes under a conservation warning were asked to restrict projects such as laundry because of the amount of water used and emptied into the sewer system. An investigation continues as to the cause of the sinkhole.
