The Allen Township Board of Supervisors at a recent meeting granted permission to an automobile restoration business to set up shop in an unoccupied building at 10 Brick Kiln Road.
The business must meet several criteria. For example, it cannot store auto parts outside the building and it must place a Dumpster in a specified location.
Applicant Martin Hacker at the hearing stated his son, Michael, who has 13 years experience in restoring cars, will perform much of the work. A part-time employee could be hired as well.
State regulations must be strictly followed concerning the use of paint and chemicals at the shop. The township zoning officer indicated permits must be pulled, along with a sketch plan for the paint booth, before any work can begin.
Township supervisors also advised a representative from an engineering firm, seeking relief for grading a 10-foot section of land. The plans, which include an eight-foot wall, will be presented to the planning commission.
