Pee Wee team advances
The NAA 100-pound Pee Wee team came up with a 6-0 win over Nazareth to advance in the playoffs.
Caden Reph had the game's only TD in the NAA victory.
On the opening drive, Northampton was faced with a 4th-and-11 at the 41. But, QB Cooper King rolled right and completed a pass down the right sideline to running back Caden Reph as he spun out and broke from several Nazareth defenders and sprinted down the sideline for a 41-yard TD reception.
Nazareth marched right back on their opening drive all the way down to their 3-yard line. Nazareth was now faced with a 4th and goal. Northampton's defense stayed tough and gang tackled on a QB sneak to stop Nazareth at the 2-yard line and take over possession.
Northampton was now backed up to its own end zone, Northampton's O line showed why they are such a strong group clearing the way for Reph on a 65-yard gain, quickly flipping field position on Nazareth. After that run Northampton's drive stalled and Nazareth took over. After a stop from Northampton's defense, NAA got the ball back before halftime. On the next possession, King completed a 23-yard pass to Anthony Orlemann to bring Northampton to their own 37-yard line, but time ran short and Northampton was going into the locker room at half with a 6-0 lead.
After some strong defense and a interception by Johnny Martinez, Northampton got the ball back with less than 8 minutes to go in the game. With some hard running led by full back Maycen Harryn, Northampton was able to kill the clock and seal the victory to send them into the semifinals this week against the Bethlehem Saints.
That game will be held on Sunday at 11 a.m. at Jordan Park in Allentown. Northampton supporters are asked to come to the game wearing all black to ignite the fans and connect with the NAA Pee Wee football team by creating a "blackout."
