The community food bank run by the Coplay Recreation and Welfare Association will receive a major boost this weekend when the Boy Scouts of America holds its annual Scouting For Food drive.
Borough residents had door hangers placed on their properties advising them to set out donations Saturday to be delivered to the food bank.
Residents are asked to donate canned foods, baby formula, dry goods and paper products. Donors are reminded to check the expiration dates on donated food.

The volunteers will be treated to a dinner in the church hall.

American flags are being placed on utility poles in observance of Veterans Day, Monday, Nov. 11.
Although the Coplay American Legion Post 426 has no special program on tap for the day, St. John's Lutheran Church Sunday will honor members of its congregation who have served in the Armed Forces.
Others will show their respect by visiting local cemeteries where small American flags will be placed on headstones to note those who served in one of the branches of the military.

It has been colder than usual at the borough hall last week as the aging furnace, which has been operating for many years, shut down.
The repairs and new parts cost the borough $10,000. The furnace is coal driven and changing to an oil or gas furnace would be costly for the borough.
