The Emmaus Arts Commission recently announced the winners of the 2013 Student Horror Film Festival.

The festival features films made by students throughout the Lehigh Valley and entries are screened at the Emmaus Theater, 19 S. 4th Street, in the borough.

In the middle school division, Tea van Linde and Anika Stetz, of Lower Macungie Middle School, took first place for the entry titled A Visit from LuLu. Second place honors went to Klay Koehler and Dylan Butz, of Eyer Middle School, for the entry titled The Chimes. Ailish Conway, a student in The Pennsylvania Cyber Charter School, won the Creativity and Originality Award for the entry Soul Canning. Lily Day and May Day, of Lower Macungie Middle School, won the Emmaus Arts Award for the entry titled Don't Let the Scare Bear Bite.

In the high school division, Graham Burrell, of Parkland High School, took first place for the entry titled The Dare. Pierce Campion and Kyle Reverie, of Lehigh Valley Performing Arts school, took second place for the entry titled Werewolves. Doug Chrin, of Emmaus High School, was recognized for the best use of required material. Elliot Laubach, David Pickett, Drew Switzer, of Emmaus High School, won honors for best editing and film direction for the entry titled Family Curse, The Robinsons. Andrew Gigler, of Emmaus High School, took top honors for creativity and originality for the entry titled The Meatloaf Messages.

Students are given a film theme and must complete their film entry within 96 hours.
