Last week, Central Catholic High School sent six students to participate in the state AA championship for golf. Individual competitors were junior Erik Ridley and sophomore Franca Hurtado. They began with a practice round Oct. 20, and competed the following two days.

Ridley secured 28th place in the state individual AA tournament for boys and Hurtado placed seventh place for girls.

On Oct. 22, they were joined by senior Ryan Gutshall, juniors Andy Milisits, John Veschi, and sophomore Matt Hoffman for the AA boys team championship where Central finished fourth. Playing from nine in the morning to four in the afternoon on Wednesday, this close-knit team played well, even on an unfamiliar course and under pressure.

The team was led by Ridley in the team tournament who shot a 78 to finish only 22 strokes behind the state champion, Holy Redeemer High School.

Loosing only one starter next year, the Central Catholic boy's golf teams expects to do just as well, if not better, next fall. All golfers show great potential for the upcoming season and plan on continuing to work hard on their game by practicing this summer. John Veschi says "We know what to expect for next year as we only lose one senior and expect to be back." As this season comes to a close, all golfers are already looking forward to the next one with high hopes.

As many of the fall sports come to an end, many students begin to look toward the upcoming winter sport season, beginning on Nov. 18. Many students take part in basketball, swimming, diving, and wrestling, all of which make winter a busy and exciting time for the school.
