James E. Monroe, 58, of South Whitehall Township, died Oct. 29, 2013 at home.
He was the husband of Terri Lynn (Todd) Monroe, to whom he was married 25 years last month.
Born in Allentown, he was the son of the late George F. and Ella B. (Benner) Monroe.
For 26 years, he worked at R.L. Reppert Construction and previously for Humphrey's Hydraulics.
He was on the board of directors for the Whitehall Historical Preservation Society, was former president and board member of the Delaware River Shad Fishermen's Association, former president and an honorary lifetime member of Copeechan Fish and Game Club.
He also was a member of Civil War Roundtable of Eastern PA.
During the Vietnam War, he served in the U.S. Army.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his mother-in-law Sandra Todd; cousins Larry Jr., Gail, Joan and Barbara; three nieces; one nephew and one great-nephew.
His services will be 9:30 a.m. Nov. 2 at Trexler Funeral Home, 1625 Highland St., Allentown.
Call 7-8:30 p.m. Friday and 8:30-9:30 a.m. Saturday.
Burial to follow with military honors at Grandview Cemetery, Allentown.
