Catasauqua School Board

Six individuals are on the ballot for seats on the Catasauqua School Board. Voters will select four for four-year terms and one for a two-year term. Three of the candidates responded to the question, "Why should voters choose you?"

Donald Panto

Voters should give thoughtful attention in the selection of school directors. When I evaluate who to choose, I think of what candidate is fair-minded, reasonable and informed so as to make the best decisions for our children, faculty and community.

Often the motivation to be a school director is to advance some private agenda, ideology or personal interest, usually at the expense of the greater good. I am simply a community participant, interested in maintaining the very best public education system possible.

I'm prepared to make hard decisions and hope to be fair-minded and reasonable. If this view appeals to you as a voter, then select me to continue to serve on the Catasauqua School Board.

Penny Hahn

My 12 years experience as a school board member, including 10 as board president, have given me a wealth of knowledge about the district, educationally, legally, and monetarily. My record demonstrates my ability to be available and willing to speak with anyone who wishes to share issues, concerns or good news, and then act accordingly.

My presence in the community and school events allows me to understand and evaluate our schools and operations. I enjoy volunteering for the school and attempt to stay involved with our students by being a part of many activities.

I have served as a CLIU 21 board member for 10 years and have volunteered as a Catasauqua High School volleyball coach for 13 years.

Duane Deitrich

The voters should choose me because I am a trustworthy citizen with a business sense who is ready to take the Catasauqua School District to the next level. We [school board members] are building a good amount of momentum and I don't want to hamper the progress we are making.

Editors note: Also on the ballot are Christine Nace and incumbents Carol McCarthy and Sally Reiss.
