Board OKs fence

Ronald Dallago can build his fence.

The Northampton Zoning Hearing Board previously rejected a request by Dallago, of 1415 Dewey Ave., to erect a fence at his corner property.

Following a hearing in council chambers Oct. 10, the zoning appeals board granted Dallago a variance to erect the fence.

The vote was unanimous in favor of Dallago's appeal. There were no objections to granting the appeal.

Two neighbors were present, showing their support for Dallago's request.

Dallago said he made improvements to his property in order to make it more attractive for the neighborhood. Dallago's residence is located near the community veterans plaza.

Located in a R-1 zoning district, Dallago said the fence will be three feet tall and use existing columns for support. It will be 6-1/2 feet from the curb line at 14th Street and Dewey Avenue.

The appeal was filed because the proposed fence does not meet the requirements for accessory structures and uses in the borough zoning ordinance.
