During the past nine weeks, Notre Dame HS came alive for a new school year as new students and teachers filled the hall, and sports games and school events brought everyone together as one family.
The football team opened the new fall season with three straight wins, resulting in a rush of overwhelming school spirit. The team, now 3-4, keeps playing tough with hopes of making the district play-offs.
The girls and boys soccer teams have also been successful this fall season, with a record of 10-7-1 and 9-5-1, respectively. Senior Giovanni Mowrey, a forward, broke the school record for career goals in a season for ND boys soccer with 49 goals.
The girls volleyball team also pursues districts this season, with a record of 12-4.
Notre Dame's extracurricular clubs have also been busy with events, such as the Back to School dance and Special Olympics.
The Student Council arranged the Back to School dance for all students to enjoy on Sept. 14. Everyone, from the new freshmen to seniors, danced together in the gymnasium to a variety of upbeat music.
The Key Club organized the Special Olympics on Sept. 24, for the kids at Mercy Special Learning Center. The kids and their buddies from Notre Dame spent the day together playing dodgeball, running on the track, and going through an obstacle course. The day ended with a game of freeze dance and the singing of the National Anthem.
With many events fast approaching, such as Homecoming, Spirit Week, and the annual MiniTHON, the student at Notre Dame remain hopeful that this school year will be great.
