Eugene O. Chomicky
Eugene O. Chomicky, 84, of South Whitehall Township, died Oct. 18, 2013, surrounded by his loving family at Cedarbrook Nursing Home, South Whitehall.
He and his wife Georgia (Chasey) Chomicky celebrated 44 years of marriage.
Born in Cleveland, Ohio, he was a son of the late The Very Right Rev. Gregory and Michaelina (Luchkiewich) Chomicky.
He was a member of The First Presbyterian Church of Allentown, where he was an ordained deacon and trustee.
A U.S. Army veteran, he served in World War II and the Korean War.
He was a graduate of William Allen High School and Penn State University, where he was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity.
He was the executive vice president of the Cement Employers Association until his retirement in 2001.
He was an adjunct professor at Penn State, where he taught labor relations and management.
He served as a trustee for the J.F. Kennedy Hospital in Stratford, N.J., and on the Board of Lehigh County Authority as vice chairman.
Past president of the Allentown Community Concert Association, he served 30 years on its board.
He also was past president of the Kiwanis Clubs in Bethlehem and Freehold, N.J.
He was a Master Mason and a volunteer with the Freddy Awards and PBS 39 auction.
He was a member of the Industrial Relations Re-search Association and SHRM.
An avid reader and wood crafter, he spent his summers in Vermont and loved rooting for Penn State football.
A very compassionate man, he enjoyed spending time with his family and puppy dogs.
He could light up the room with his smile.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters Jodi of Allentown and Jennifer Chomicky-Brooks and granddaughter, Ashley ,of Manassas, Va.; and sister Elaine White of Clarks Summit.
He was predeceased by brothers Yar and Myron and sister Irene.
His memorial service will be 10 a.m. Oct. 25, at The First Presbyterian Church of Allentown, 3231 Tilghman St., Allentown.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Cedarbrook Residents Activity Fund, in memory of Eugene O. Chomicky, c/o Cedarbrook Nursing Home, 350 South Cedarbrook Road, Allentown, PA 18104.
