STUDENT OF THE WEEK Kelly Garrigan

Q. What grade are you in?

A. I am in 12th grade at Salisbury High School.

Q. What is your favorite subject? Why?

A. Picking one subject would be difficult, but my favorite classes are science and history subjects. I love science because I like to learn how things work like the human body or chemical equations. I also love history because I think it's important to learn about the past to build a better future.

Q. Have you received any special awards or recognition?

A. I am in National Honor Society. In 10th grade, I was a colonial league honorable mention in softball. I also received first place at the regional PJAS competition for three years.

Q. What extracurricular activities are you involved in, both in and out of school?

A. I am involved in basketball, softball and cross country. I am also involved in my church youth group, SHS theater, student government, class advisory, chorus, country chorus, and Descant Get Enough (a cappella chorus).

Q. What is your next goal after high school?

A. I plan on going to college (I haven't decided which one yet) to major in biology or chemistry.

Q. What would you say your biggest challenge has been so far?

A. My biggest challenge so far has been balancing my school work with my extracurricular activities.

Q. What do you want to be remembered for?

A. I want to be remembered for being a nice person who usually displayed a positive attitude.

Q. Who is in your family?

A. My mom, Judy, my dad, Mike, and my sometimes wonderful, awesome, younger sister, Abby.

Q. Do you have someone you look up to?

A. I look up to my great grandmother, Grams, who passed away last year, because she made the most of her almost 97 years life and stayed positive throughout it. She was also very supportive of everything I did.

Q. Do you have any advice for your peers?

A. Make the most of high school. Don't pass up any opportunities. You may find something new that interests you!
