Plan approval of the Spring Creek Properties Settlement Subdivision, formerly Spring Creek Properties, Subdivision 1, was given Oct. 17. This includes extension of Sauerkraut Lane, subdividing the lots for their various purposes, traffic improvement plans, traffic studies and other specifications necessary for this development. The Estates at Millrace plan was approved. The applicant will construct stormwater facilities and pay a fee to the township for maintenance.
Concern about criminal activity at Walmart was raised at the meeting. The increased activity may be keeping people from shopping there. Commissioners were informed Walmart's security is aware of the increased shoplifting problem and is aggressively seeking theft prevention. The parking lot is monitored by numerous security cameras. This subject will be brought before the Public Safety Committee.
The three properties considered condemned due to flooding in the Spring Creek Road area are to be acquired soon. This has been two to three years in the making. The residents are anxious to move.
There have been two accidents at the Sauerkraut and Saddlebrook intersection since July. Discussion involved the use of speed boxes as a good way of curtailing speed and the placement of speed limit signs.
The concern continues for those residents who had trees removed by PPL, leaving no buffer to accidents. Public Works will review this concern.
The Public Safety Commission discussed several resident concerns including Mike Siegel, from Aster Road, who expressed his concern about his narrow street. He suggested no parking on his street. His suggestion will be referred to the Public Works Committee for review.
A resident expressed concern about battery operated scooters riding on sidewalks. There is no ordinance that prohibits them.
Roof repairs for the township building are to be completed by Jemar Contracting from Huntington Valley, The company provided the lowest bid and has good references.
The new board room should be completed and ready for use for the Dec. 19 commissioners meeting.
