Anyone sticking their head outside late Oct. 11 would have guessed the Salisbury High School Football Booster Club's second annual antique, muscle car, street rod and 4x4 truck show would surely be postponed from its Saturday, Oct. 12, scheduled date to the rain date, Sunday, Oct. 13.
They would have been wrong.
Saturday morning dawned bright and sunny - a perfect day for automobile enthusiasts to display their pride and joy show cars without a hint of rain.
Exhibitors showed up in force: "more than 125" before noon, said Dan Mohry, booster club event chair.
The entry fees for the show vehicles and the sponsor fees provide a major fundraising opportunity for the booster club. The event featured the show vehicles, live music by the rock band Ricky Smith and The Crush, and six-foot trophies awarded to the best vehicles in several categories.
Vehicles from the Salisbury Police Department as well as from the Eastern Salisbury and Western Salisbury fire departments and the fire departments' fire safety house provided additional activities.
Food concession tents, a "silent" basket raffle and a 50/50 raffle provided activities for all ages.
Mohry said volunteers from the booster club showed up in force to make the day a success.
