Vernon A. Miller, 90, of Schnecks-ville, died Oct. 7, 2013, in the Inpatient Hospice Unit at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown.
He was the husband of Rose M. (Billy) Miller and the late Alice A. (Naugle) Miller.
He and Rose celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary on April 30.
Born July 23, 1923, in Ellerslie, Md., he was the son of the late Norman E. and Valdia (Brightbill) Miller.
He faithfully and honorably served his country in the U.S. Army achieving the rank of sergeant in the 507th Parachute Infantry, with which he participated in the Normandy Invasion, the Battle of the Bulge and the airborne invasion of Germany.
A 1950 graduate of Muhlenberg College, he was a claims manager for the Erie Insurance Company for 37 years before retiring in 1987.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters, Vicki A., wife of Francis Gehman III, of Emmaus, Debra A., wife of Jack McDermott, of Schnecksville; sister Darlene I., wife of Gary Wells, of Casper, Wyo.
His memorial service will be 10:30 a.m. Oct. 14, in Heintzelman Funeral Home Inc., 4906 Route 309, Schnecksville.
Family and friends may pay their respects 9:30-10:30 a.m. Monday in the funeral home. Interment will be private.
