STUDENT PROFILE: Amanda Hodes, LV Charter High School for the Arts

Grade: 11

Family members: I have two older brothers, my mother, and my father.

Favorite subject(s): My favorite subjects are Music, Art History, and English. I appreciate the creativity and discipline inherent in creating music and writing. I enjoy the insight and complexity behind art of the past.

Activities: Guitar and Visual Arts. I'm in a variety of academic clubs, as well.

Next steps: I hope to attend college as a double major in Music and English.

Career goals: I would like to become a professional composer/songwriter.

Heroes: Some of my heroes include Andres Segovia, Kurt Vonnegut, and Henry David Thoreau, due to their virtuosity in their respective fields and great minds.

Hobbies: Guitar, voice, piano, photography, drawing, writing and reading

Current job(s): For now, I'm just a professional student.

Volunteer/community work: I was a docent at the Sigal Museum. For now, I do most of my community service through school clubs.

Likes: Learning, traveling and volunteering

Dislikes: I dislike people who talk so much that they fail to listen - and bugs.

Greatest accomplishment (so far): My greatest accomplishment has been maintaining a balance between my rigorous musical and art studies, extracurricular activities, and academics.

Advice for peers: Sacrifices and large decisions are necessary in order to be successful, so always know your priorities and constantly reflect on yourself and your situation.
