NCC to honor 7 alumni

NCC will honor seven alumni, faculty and staff members at its Recipes for Success Alumni Awards Mixer at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 16 at Alumni Hall, Gates Center.

Janine M. Reppert ('94-registered nursing), of New Tripoli, will receive the President's Award. She is president of the Aaron Companies homecare and medical facility needs in the Lehigh Valley, Allentown.

Eric Shirk ('06 -communications), of New Cumberland, will receive the Outstanding Young Alumnus Award. He is the acting communications director for the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection.

Bridget A. Dorsey ('79- applied science, dental hygiene) RDH, of Bangor, will receive the Distinguished Service to the Community Award. She is a field sales consultant for Henry Schein Dental in the Lehigh Valley and the Poconos.

Helene M. Whitaker, of Bethlehem, will receive the Honorary Alumna Award. She is vice president for administrative affairs at Northampton Community College. Active in the community, she served for 25 years on the Boards of Musikfest and ArtsQuest for 25 years, the Lehigh Valley Economic Development Legislative and Government Relations Committee, the Northampton County General Purpose Authority and the Northampton County Open Space Advisory Board.

Sam Canone ('73), of Allentown, will receive the Distinguished Service to NCC Award. Canone is a 1973 graduate of NCC, where he was tri-captain of the Spartan Baseball Team. He transferred to LaSalle University, where he earned a bachelor's degree in business administration in 1975. He became the college's assistant baseball coach and was inducted into the NCC Athletic Hall of Fame in 2009. He is employed at the Sears Holding company.

Dr. Sharon Gavin Levy, of Bethlehem Township, will receive the Educator's Award. She is a professor of English at NCC. She is on the Bethlehem Area School District Superintendent's Advisory Committee for Diversity and has served on numerous community boards and associations.

Darla Frack ('94), MSN, RN; of Danielsville, will receive the professional achievement award. She is vice president of patient care services at St. Luke's University Health Network's Anderson Campus.
