October is Fire Prevention Month and the Lehigh Township Historical Society is sponsoring a special program by volunteers of the Lehigh Township Volunteer Fire Company at St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Indianland, 787 Almond Road, 2 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 13.
Following the presentation, light refreshments will be served.
St. Paul's Schoolhouse, adjacent to the church, will also be open during the afternoon and all are invited to explore the schoolhouse that was built in 1865 and restored by the Lehigh Township Historical Society.
Observe first-hand how local students were taught in a one-room setting up until 1951, when the schoolhouse was closed. It is one of the few schoolhouses left in the township that is in good condition.
The historical society hopes you will join them to show support for the volunteers in Lehigh Township and visit the schoolhouse which was restored to preserve the culture of Lehigh Township.
