Jackson first; girls take title

The Northampton cross country team hosted the Northampton Invitational on Saturday afternoon, Oct. 5, at Bicentennial Park in East Allen Township.

The NHS girls won the team portion and were helped to victory by Hayley Jackson, who took first place overall with a time of 19:52.

Head coach Dan Benner said her time was the 19th fastest time in the six-year history of the course.

"She had the second fastest Northampton runner time on the course all-time, along with the second fastest senior time all time," Benner said. "She's only the second Northampton girl to break 20 minutes on the course."

Lyndsey Gallagher was sixth overall and medaled with a time of 20:36.

"It was the third fastest Northampton time of all time and the fastest freshman time all time," Benner said.
