Hundreds of high school musicians, majorettes and marchers dedicate themselves each year to perform and entertain the Bethlehem area community and beyond. Students at Bethlehem Catholic, Freedom, Liberty, Notre Dame and Saucon Valley high schools practice hard, enjoy some fun times and seem to enjoy the benefits that their involvement in music provide. They are directed by dedicated music instructors and supported by active parent-based organizations. Each year during August they begin training, readying themselves for the upcoming school year's athletic event performances, travel opportunities to perform and/or compete, and their own concerts. During the 2013-2014 school year Bethlehem Catholic's Golden Hawk Band will travel to a Myrtle Beach music festival; Freedom's Patriot Band will travel to Boston and perform with a symphony orchestra; and, Liberty's Grenadier Band will march in Pasadena's Rose Parade. Each represents themselves, their school community and the City of Bethlehem and the Lehigh Valley well.
