Lower Macungie Township Board of Supervisors

The Shepherd's Corner land development project was approved at the Lower Macungie Township Board of Commissioners meeting Oct. 3.

This plan is for the area at Krocks Court and Hamilton Boulevard, addresses of 5621, 5591, and 5573 Hamilton Blvd. The property is bordered by Quince Road, which is private, behind the present structures.

The plan calls for two office/retail buildings on the northeastern corner. Ample parking, emergency access routes and detention ponds are included. There is a proposal for a fire hydrant near the 5573 property.

Approval was made for the Millbrook Farms newest building addition. This is a renewal of the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System permit. The original permit was issued in 1982.

Attorney Lee Mescolotto spoke about the property at 7513 Quarry Road. This property has been up for rezoning and no decision has been reached.

"I'm just asking for you to finish the job," Mescolotto stated.

Macungie's Police Chief Edward Harry requested roads for detour during the Macungie Halloween Parade. This is an annual event and will be held Oct. 26. The request was approved.

Mary Joy Kaiser from the Via Marathon, wrote a letter of thanks to Lower Milford Township for the donation of municipal services.

The sale of the Kratzer house remains controversial.

The current proposal of selling the house has met with opposition. While members of the board of commissioners have stated frequently they do not want the township to be in the real estate business, the Parks and Recreation board members feel a full board review is essential, making sure all information has been gathered and is included in the final decision.

The house is appraised at $255,000. This amount fully defines what is being sold.

The subdivision was approved which means the house will be sold in the middle of the township property. The vote was 3-1 in favor of the subdivision. Commissioner Ryan Conrad was absent and Commissioner Douglas Brown opposed.

Several important dates were mentioned which include some changes:

* The Cyclocross event in Camp Olympic was moved to Dec. 15 due to a schedule conflict.

* The Hamilton Corridor meeting was changed to Nov. 8.

* There is a budget meeting for the public scheduled for Oct. 9.

* The community center will be the meeting place to discuss the police study 7 p.m. Nov. 12.

* An open house will take place at the Brandywine Fire Department Oct. 12.

Director of Finance Cassandra Williams presented the bill list and it was approved. Williams also presented the budget analysis. Revenue is down from the swimming pool due to excessive rain over the summer pool season.

Commissioner James Lancsek asked if there was a deficit in the general fund. Williams said no.
