Drivers arrested

for DUI

State Police Troop M Fogelsville say Michael Dennis, 27, of Allentown, was stopped for an alleged summary traffic violation 1:41 a.m. Sept. 26 on Route 22 West at Route 309, South Whitehall Township.

Dennis was arrested for allegedly driving under the influence.

In a separate incident, police say Cory Matthew Haverstock, 27, of Allentown, was stopped 2 a.m. Sept. 27 for an alleged summary traffic violation on Route 222 at Lincoln Avenue, South Whitehall Township.

Haverstock was arrested for allegedly driving under the influence of marijuana, police say.

2-vehicle collision

on I-78

State Police Troop M Fogelsville say Paul T. Mendez, 44, of Coplay, was driving a 2005 Toyota Tundra pickup 3:30 p.m. Sept. 20 on I-78, South Whitehall, when it was hit by a 1997 Volvo 850 driven by Russell A. Hamm, 27, of Lansdale.

According to police, the pickup was westbound on I-78 in the right lane, when the car traveling in the center lane merged into the right lane striking the truck's left rear bumper with its right front bumper.

After impact, Hamm allegedly fled on Route 222 South. Mendez pulled onto the shoulder of I-78 at mile maker 54.6 and waited for police arrival.

Both drivers, who police say were wearing seat belts, were uninjured.
