Pate's Kayleigh DiNoto second at No. 2

Freedom tennis player, Kayleigh DiNoto, did her homework and saw it pay off with a silver medal at number two singles in the Lehigh Valley Conference Tennis Tournament on Monday at Parkland High School.

"It's good. It's nice, and it's really exciting," DiNoto said.

DiNoto's first match ended in an 8-4 victory over Bethlehem Catholic's Emily Hozza.

"I was consistent, and that was good," DiNoto said.

Expecting a tough match from her second opponent, Catherine Garrity of Emmaus, DiNoto learned Garrity's style of play.

"She's really powerful. It was close during the [regular] season, but I beat her. She only lost to Parkland and me. I learned how she played and her direction. Whenever I go soft, I mess up because she's tall, and she slams it down the line," said DiNoto.

DiNoto then faced Parkland's Anna Qiu in the final where Qiu won 10-7.

"She had really good shots. I had to keep up with her going back and forth, but my net play was off today," DiNoto said.

DiNoto's silver was the first LVC medal for the Patriot senior, after sitting out last year with an injury.
