The Lehigh Valley Interscholastic Athletic Conference officially has some new friends.

LVIAC president Chris Schiffert and Mountain Valley Conference president Jeff Sodl held a conference call Wednesday morning to announce that the six current members of the MVC are set to join the LVC, beginning the 2014-2015 calendar year.

The six schools that will join the already 12-team LVC include Stroudsburg, East Stroudsburg South, East Stroudsburg North, Pocono Mountain East, Pocono Mountain West and Pleasant Valley.

Sodl and Schiffert echoed similar sentiments about how both parties are happy to finally get the merger finalized. Now, they just have to work on figuring out how the league will look division wise.

"Our next step is to discuss scheduling," said Sodl. "Our goal is to get all the AD's together to work out how we want this league to look."

Those discussions will occur within the next two weeks, if not immediately, as scheduling is a priority to get finished by the latest in mid November.

With 18 teams in the league now, there have been three to four different proposals on how the league would look division wise, but nothing as discussed during the call.

The league appears that it will remain under the Lehigh Valley Interscholastic Athletic Conference title.
