Girls beat up SHS
FIELD HOCKEY
The Catasauqua field hockey team blanked Salisbury 5-0 on Tuesday afternoon at home.
The girls jumped out to a 2-0 halftime lead and never looked back. Quinn Bachman continued to torrid streak with both first half goals. Each was assisted by Hannah Edwards, in what would be a five-assist day for the sophomore.
Katie Buczynski made it 3-0 in the second half before Bachman recorded her third goal of the game to make it 4-0. Buczysnski added her second goal to make it 5-0 as Edwards assisted on every Catasauqua goal. The girls outshot the Falcons 18-2.
Catty won the JV game 1-0.

Catty had a another shutout victory 7-0 over Wilson in field hockey last week.
The Roughs scored all of their goals in the first half and outshot the Warriors 14-0 in the game.
Hannah Edwards got things rolling with two unassisted scores to make it 2-0. Michaela Waldrop made it 3-0 on an assist from Olivia Schlofer.
Waldrop would score again to make it 4-0, this time on an assist from Edwards. Shea O'Brien's goal made it 5-0 on an assist from Edwards and then it was O'Brien on an assist from Edwards again to make it 6-0.
O'Brien would pick up a helper on the team's final goal which was scored by Katie Buczynski.

Catty lost a heartbreaker to Southern Lehigh 1-0.
Spartan keeper Shelby Drissel saved a stroke with no time left in the second half to preserve the victory.
Southern Lehigh scored at the 23:25 mark of the first half on a goal by Lizzi Thom, which was assisted by Emily Marshall. The Roughs were outshot in the game 16-7 and Janae Matos made 15 saves for Catty.
It was especially a tough loss in that the Roughs played well against a Spartan team that improved to 8-0 at the time with the victory. Drissel finished with seven saves.
CROSS COUNTRY
Catty hosted its only home cross country meet on Tuesday afternoon at Bicentennial Park in East Allen Township.
Kyle Gonoude of Salisbury won the event with a time 17:10. Gavin Kemery of Northern Lehigh was second in 17:21 and Wilson's Anthony Calantoni was third in 17:36. Warrior teammate Alex Race was fourth in 17:43 and another Wilson runner, Joe Espilal was fifth in 17:56.
Catty's Jacob Rusnock was sixth to lead the way with a time of 18:02. Spencer Phillips cracked the top-20 with a 17th place finish in 18:43.
Dionis Lora was 21st for the Roughies in 19:13. Zack Decamp was 41st in 20:45. Andrew Rice was 50th in 21:57 and Chris Sobrinski was 51st in 22:07.
Other Catty finishers were Andrew Burick 62nd in 25:20, Kyle Scarpantonio 64th in 25:40, Patrick Corroscher 66th in 25:46, Tyson Stuber 73rd in 30:01 and Aaron Felker 74th in 30:24.
Catty would fall in all five contests: Wilson 17-43, Palisades 26-33, Nolehi 25-33, Pen Argyl 26-30, Salisbury 19-40.

GIRLS SOCCER
Brin Doherty scored six goals and added an assist in a 10-0 loss to Palmerton.
Jenna Creed, Elissa Plocinik, Sabreena Straudi and Jaclyn Wood also added goals.
Kendra Pekumy had four assists while Johanna Matsko added three.
VOLLEYBALL
Saucon Valley beat Catty 3-0 on Sept. 9.
Catty fell to Pius X, 25-8, 25-11, 25-14 on Sept. 23.
Notre Dame Green Pond topped Catty 25-6, 25-3, 25-7 on Sept. 24.
