Boys running well
Whitehall recently competed in the 7th Annual PIAA Foundation Cross Country Invitational.
The boys took 19th overall in the event.
Junior Gabe Lamm took 32nd in the event with a time of 17:27. Brian Plucinsky took 82nd in 18:34.
Jean Carlos Falcon was 123rd in 19:13 and Calvin Schneck was right behind in 124th in 19:14. Elliot Miller was 139th in 19:35. Andrew Sassaman was 158th in 19:53 while Kevin Thomas was 166th in 20:02.
Head coach Mike Lelko has been pleased with the boys effort this season as they continue to head to postseason meets.
"The boys team have been running strong led by Gabe Lamm with Brian Plucinsky right behind him," Lelko said. "Sophomore Calvin Schneck is coming into his own over the 3.1 mile distance and has the ability to race with Lamm and Plucinsky. The three boys garnished medals with their top-20 performances at the DeSales Invitational [last week] against some good out of our area teams."
Lelko isn't surprised based on the work the boys have put.
"It has been nice to see the boys coming home with hardware at the invitationals we've attended this season," Lelko said. "They put in the hard work this summer and deserve the rewards they are seeing now."
The girls finished 22nd in the event.
They were led by Angela Stella who was 77th in 22:22. Close behind was Emily Brand in 85th in 22:35. Ashlee Brosky was 109th in 23:22 while Alexandra Dorner was 122nd in 23:51.
Hannah Gill took 125th in 23:54 and Tiffanie Hopkins was 162 in 25:22. Heather Busch was 166th in 25:35. Overall, all the girls finished within about three minutes of one another.
