Sept. 26

Upper Milford Historical Society meeting, 7 p.m. at the Upper Milford Municipal Building, Old Zionsville. Greg Huber will discuss barns in Upper Milford Township, including his recent survey of barns in Lehigh County. The Lehigh Valley Chapter 1371 of the National Active and Retired Federal Employees will conduct their monthly meeting 12:45 p.m. at St. Peters Lutheran Church community room, 1933 Hanover Ave., Allentown. All current and former Federal workers are invited to attend the meeting. Sept. 28

Annual Lower Milford Township Fall Festival, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the grounds of the Lower Milford Township Building, 7607 Chestnut Hill Church Road, Coopersburg. The festival features the bluegrass band "The Forgotten Mountain Boys," free carriage rides, crafts, children's activities, vendors, demonstrations, a silent auction and more. Smokin' Smitty's returns this year with barbecue. Baked goods will be available from Pappy's Orchard. There will be free parking close to the festival grounds. First annual 5K run/ walk, 1/2 mile fun run to benefit Lehigh County Special Olympic athletes at the Whitehall Township Parkway. To register, visit http:// lehigh5K. eventbrite.com. Registration before Sept. 7 guarantees a T-shirt.

Bluegrass in the Park, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. in Emmaus Community Park. Sponsored by the Emmaus Special Entertainment Commission, the event will feature several bluegrass bands, food and beverages and fun for the entire family.

Sept. 29

"An Autumn Afternoon Cemetery Walking Tour," will be led by church and local historian Joshua A. Fink, 1:30 p.m. at Jerusalem Western Salisbury Church, 3441 Devonshire Road, Allentown. This will be an opportunity to learn about one of the oldest cemeteries in the area and some of the interesting individuals buried there: see the tombstone said to be the oldest tombstone on any Lutheran or Reformed Cemetery in Lehigh County that can still be read in its entirety; learn about the earliest ancestor in the area from the Bieber family; visit the graves of a few of the 30 men who were veterans of the Civil War and find out which ones fought at the Battle of Gettysburg 150 years ago; discover the individual buried on our cemetery who was murdered; visit the final resting place of a local funeral director and see several other interesting tombstones along the way. We will gather in the sanctuary to begin the event; wear appropriate and comfortable clothing and footwear. Donations for the event will benefit the 275th Anniversary Committee. Oct. 3

Allentown AARP Chapter #5415 will meet noon at St. Timothy's Church, 140 South Ott St., Allentown. The speaker for the meeting is JoAnne Hoodmaker, who will give a presentation on the Titanic. She will have artifacts from the Titanic ship on display. Everyone is welcome. Bring a non-perishable food item for the Allentown Food Bank. For information, call 610-437-4265.

Lower Macungie Township Historical Society meeting 7 p.m. at the Macungie Institute, 510 East Main St., Macungie. The meeting will include a slide show by local trolley expert Doug Peters on the Allentown-Emmaus-Macungie trolley line. The event is co-sponsored by the Macungie Historical Society.

Oct. 5

The Lower Macungie Township Historical Society sponsors storyteller Charles Kiernan, who will tell tales that cause people to look under their beds before going to sleep, 7 pm. at the Log House, 5047 Hamilton Boulevard, Wescosville.

The Friends of the 1803 House host A Very Merrie Halloween, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. featuring storytelling and games, a Halloween costume parade and a visit at 11 a.m. from the Wildlands Conservancy with some "not-so-scary" creatures. There will be a baking contest, tours of the historic house and juried crafts and art for sale. Pulled pork platters will be available as well as soups and desserts. Tickets for the pulled pork platters can be purchased in advance at Sweet Memories or the day of the event; take out will be available.
