Rusnock finishes seventh for CHS

CROSS COUNTRY

The Catty cross country team competed in Bangor on Tuesday.

The Roughies fell to Saucon Valley 19-42, Bangor 17-44, Palmerton 21-39 and Notre Dame East Stroudsburg 23-34.

Despite the losses for the team, the Roughs had two runners place in the top-25. Jacob Rusnock was seventh with a time of 18:45.54. Spencer Phillips was 25th with a time of 20:10.99. Bangor's Brandon Tocket won the race with a time of 17:32.27.

Other finishers for the Catty boys were: Zachary Decamp in 50th in 21:56, Randal Pacchioli in 54th in 22:35, Alec Hartranft in 66th in 24:54, Andrew Burick in 70th in 26:50, Kyle Scarpantonio in 72nd in 27:52 and Patric Corrocher in 77th in 29:47.

On the girls side, a new Bangor course record was set by Elizabeth Chikotas in 19:02.22 from Saucon Valley.

FIELD HOCKEY

The Catty field hockey team hit a rough patch over the last week, falling to Moravian Academy, Northern Lehigh and defeating Northwestern.

The girls lost to Moravian 6-2 as the Lions improved to 5-1 overall and 4-1 in the Colonial League. Catty was 4-3 overall and 2-3 in the league.

Moravian had a 3-1 lead at halftime but it was actually Catty that scored first on a goal from Michaela Waldroe. Hannah Edwards assisted on the goal.

But Moravian would score the next three: Mayv Clune on an assist from Katie Persin, Cecily Redfern on an assist from Dana Turner, and Katie Persin on an assist from Madi Sheetz.

The Lions would score three more in the second half: Dana Turner unassisted, Natalie Acopian on an assist from Bridget Bell, and Natalie Acopian on an assist from Mayv Clune.

Quinn Bachman added Catty second goal on another assist from Edwards.

Moravian outshot Catty 25-4.

The girls topped Northwestern 2-0.

Quinn Bachman gave Catty a 1-0 lead in the first half that carried right into halftime. She was assisted by Shea O'Brien. Katie Buczynski made it 2-0 with a second half goal on a pass from Hannah Edwards.

Janae Matos made six saves for the Roughs and Catty outshot the Tigers 11-6 in the win. The JV team won 1-0.

Catty fell to Northern Lehigh 5-2.

Shannon Weil led the way with two goals and an assist in the win. Also scoring was Taylor Herman, Jessie Olewine and Kelsey Follweiler. Devon Pepe, Erika McKay and Dakota Schweitzer added assists.

Quinn Bachman remained hot scoring two more goals in the game. Katie Buczynski and Hannah Edwards added assists.

Boys Soccer

Catty fell to Lehighton 5-0.

Lehighton scored two first half goals, Derek Berger and Cole Christman which were both unassisted.

Joe Marks scored in the second half and Anthony Rossini added two more in the second half. Only Rossini's second goal was assisted, coming from Dan Baka.

The guys lost to Wilson 2-1.

Jose Acevado scored a first half goal before Catty tied the game on a penalty kick from Sean Klobosits. Cleary would give Wilson the lead.

Catty had five shots on goal and Wilson had nine.

CHS lost to Southern Lehigh 5-0.

The Spartans led just 1-0 at halftime before they scored four unanswered in the second half.

William Demmel got Solehi on the board first on an assist by Jacob Kohler. Then it was Nick Loew, Matt Dicker, Logan Koch and Ryan Fowler scoring in the second half.

Girls Soccer

Catty girls lost to Wilson 2-1.

Sydney Brannon and Abbie Race scored unassisted goals for Wilson while Krys Roberts had Catty's goal on an assist from Jade Biviano.

Catty also lost to Southern Lehigh by a score of 9-0.
