Joel E. Guthrie, 66, of South Whitehall Township, died Sept. 14, 2013, in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township.

He and his wife Kathleen S. (Stoy) Guthrie were married more than 44 years.

Born in Waynesburg, Greene County, he was the son of the late Kenneth J. and Wilma S. (Spitznogle) Guthrie.

He graduated from Waynesburg High School in 1964 and attended two years at Waynesburg College.

An independent NDE/NDT inspector, he was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served on the USS Canopus and spending 18 months overseas during his three-year enlistment.

A 32 degree mason with the Lodge Council Chapter Consistory, Allentown, he also was a 32 degree mason with Waynesburg Lodge 0153.

He was a member of the Ferrari Club of America.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Stephanie S., wife of Jason Hammer of Slatington; brother Stephen D., and his wife, Song Sun, of Apex, N.C.; and grandson Cade Conall.

As per his wishes, there will be no memorial service.
