Thelma F. Meckes

Thelma F. Meckes, 93, of Saint James City, Fla., formerly of Laurys Station, died Sept. 8, 2013, in The Rehab Center of Cape Coral, Cape Coral, Fla.

She was the wife of the late Norman D. Meckes.

Born in Laurys Station, she was a daughter of the late Alfred and Florence (Brown) Peters.

She worked in many capacities for the former Paris Neckwear Inc., Walnutport, for 16 years before retiring in 1964.

She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Laurys Station.

Active for many years as a member of the Rose Croix Chapter 235 of the Order of the Eastern Star, she was a charter member and a past treasurer of the Upper Lehigh Lioness Club.

Her survivors include a daughter, Norma E. and her husband, Ronald Royer of Saint James City; sister Roma Kemmerer of Allentown; son-in-law William Laub of Coplay; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a daughter, Diane T. Laub; brother, Kenneth R. Peters; and sister, Marilyn Roth.

Calling hours will be 7-8:30 p.m. Sept. 16 and from 10-11 a.m. followed by her funeral service 11 a.m. Sept. 17, all at Schisler Funeral Home Inc., 2119 Washington Ave., Northampton.
