Driver charged

in accident

Matthew S. Bishwaty, 23, of Allentown, was charged with careless driving after his 2001 Subaru Forester SUV rear-ended a 2007 Chevrolet 5500 rollback tow truck driven by Carlos D. Sanchez-Marin, 21, of Norristown, 1:08 p.m. Aug. 19, on Route 22, South Whitehall Township, State Police Troop M Fogelsville say.

According to police, Bishwaty was westbound in the right travel lane of Route 22 when his SUV hit the rear of the tow truck, which was slowed in the right lane at the off ramp for Route 309 South.

The SUV came to a controlled rest on the west shoulder. The tow truck came to a controlled rest on the north shoulder of the off ramp, police say.

Bishwaty, who police say was not wearing his seat belt, was transported by Cetronia Ambulance Corps to Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township.

Sanchez-Marin, who police say was wearing his seat belt, was uninjured.

Police allege Bishwaty was under the influence of a controlled substance at the time of the crash.

Charges were filed against Bishwaty, police say.
