After a two year search, St. John's Lutheran Church, Fogelsville, has found a pastor to lead the congregation.
Pastor Nelson Quiñones, who will be installed 4 p.m. Sept. 22, has been preaching regularly since June, after accepting the call by unanimous vote.
During the call process, he was impressed with the friendliness and warmth from the parishioners on the Call Committee.
"If those folks are that caring, then surely the rest of the congregation cares about their future and has devotion for the church," he said.
Pastor Quiñones wasted no time as the leader of the St. John's flock, visiting homebound members his very first week.
"The church can still be the church, even in today's society," he said, adding he is looking forward to building and nourishing the congregation.
Pastor Quiñones was ordained April 21, 2002, at St. John's Lutheran, Allentown, where he also served as assistant pastor until 2008.
He then took a call as senior pastor for Christ Lutheran, Easton, until 2012.
He is a pastoral consultant for San Martin de Porres Lutheran Church, Allentown, since 2010 and continues in that capacity while serving St. John's, Fogelsville.
The pastor and his wife, Jessica, are the parents of a son, Nicolas.
They enjoy watching movies together, and Pastor Quiñones and Nicolas also golf.
Pastor Quiñones enjoys playing chess and dominoes on occasion, as well.
