Field hockey piles up wins
Catty's field hockey team knocked off Bangor 2-0 on Tuesday afternoon.
The CHS girls outshot the Slaters 9-2.
Quinn Bachman scored a goal in the first half on an assist from Hannah Edwards. Edwards than found the back of the net in the second half to add some insurance and make it 2-0. She was asisted by Katie Buczynski.
The JV team beat Bangor 2-1.

The girls defeated Becahi 3-1 over the weekend.
The Roughies jumped out to a 2-0 lead at halftime thanks to goals from Hannah Edwards and Quinn Bachman. Edwards scored first and was assisted by Michaela Waldrop. Edwards would then assist on Bachman's goal which made it 2-0.
It was Edwards again in the second half giving Catty its third goal. The Hawks would answer with a goal from Dana Cruz. Janae Matos made seven saves while the Roughs peppered Hawk goalie Rachel Broniec with 15 shots - she saved 12.
Catty's JV team also won, taking a 2-0 contest.

For the first 30 minutes of play last Wednesday afternoon, the Palmerton field hockey team had no problem turning away the constant pressure Catasauqua was applying.
Before intermission, the Roughies ripped off six shots on goal, but Blue Bombers' sophomore keeper Addison Lesher managed to hold them scoreless.
In the second half however, the Roughies' Quinn Bachman took things into her own hands, providing her team with enough offense to pull out a 2-0 victory over the Bombers.
It was just 1:50 into the second half when Hannah Edwards sent a perfect pass across the front of the Bombers' cage. Bachman was at the right place at the right time, got enough stick on the ball and deflected it past Lesher to the back right of the cage.
Nearly six minutes later, Bachman was at it once again. She broke free on the run, put several Bombers' defenders behind her and gave the Roughies an insurance goal.

Just 1:30 into the first overtime, Pen Argyl scored on a penalty corner for a 3-2 victory over Catty.
Catty had a 2-1 lead going into halftime and for the game outshot the Knights 15-10.
Hannah Edwards and Michaela Waldrop gave the Roughs the early lead. Nicole Kocher scored to tie it in the second half before Dana Evans' goal won it.
The Knights Lacy Hempeler got her team on the board in the first half on an assist from Laura Zanette, who finished with two helps.
Edwards also had an assist on Waldrop's goal.
Pen Argyl goalie Kasey Hanlon kept her team in the game with 13 saves.
The JVs tied 1-1.
Cross Country
Catasauqua dropped close cross country matches on the boys side, falling to host Pen Argyl 26-30, Northern Lehigh 22-33, Palisades 27-30, Salisbury 23-35 and Wilson 20-39.
Jacob Rusnock led the way for the Roughs, taking fifth with a time of 18:59.55. Gavin Kemery of Northern Lehigh won the boys meet with a time of 18:14.91.
Dionis Lora had a top-15 finish taking 13th with a time of 19:43.67. Spencer Phillips finished in the top-25 taking 22nd in 20:53.64.
Other finishers for the Catty boys were: Zach Decamp, 30th in 21:31.62, Andrew Rice, 38th in 22:02.40, Chris Sobrinski, 42nd in 22:46.10, Alec Hartranft, 51st in 25:32.16, Kyle Scarpantonio, 59th in 28:12.13, Patric Corrocher, 61st in 29:11.45 and Aaron Felker, 66th in 35:26.42.
Boys Soccer
Catty boys soccer topped Lehigh Valley Christian 7-3.
The Roughs led 5-0 at the half and held on in the second half for the win.
Catasauqua goals were scored by Christian Osorto off a Nick Rossnagle cross. Ethan Hill scored off a Lester Estrada cross, and then Hill again off a Dionis Lora through ball.
Hill would add his third goal off a Lester Estrada corner. Jarrett Haldeman scored unassisted from the outside. Rossnagle added an unassisted goal and then scored his second on an assist from Martin Nalbandian.
LVC's goals came in the second half. Bastian Medina's came first on a penalty kick before Andrew Groff scored two unassisted goals.
Catty had 10 shots on goal. The win improved the Roughies to 2-2.

Salisbury defeated Catty 5-1.
The Falcons first goal came 17 minutes into the game on a jaw-dropping bicycle kick scored by Connor Wagner off a Brett Spencer cross.
Wagner would score another goal in the contest as well. Danny Walters had three goals in the win, with Sebastian Valderrama adding one as well. Assists for Salisbury included two from Austin Uhl, two from Brett Spencer, and one from Valderrama.
Catasauqua's goal was off a set piece with Lester Estrada setting a ball forward to Ethan Hill who headed it in.
Salisbury had 14 shots on goal with Catasauqua getting three. Shaun Holben had 13 saves for Salisbury, and Gunnar Pattison had two for Catasauqua.

After a close first half, Saucon Valley pulled away for an 8-1 victory over Catty.
The Panthers led 3-1 at the half before exploding for five goals in the second half. Connor Simpson had two goals and then one each from Zach Reichard, Misha Bilous, Joe Schuyler, Mike Vidal, Jeff Kern as well as an own goal.
Saucon outshot Catty 19-2.
Nick Rossnagle had Catty's only goal on an assist from Ethan Hill.
Girls Soccer
Salisbury beat Catty 9-0.
Mackenzie Groff scored three goals while Christine Kotch added two as did Katie Bucchin. Sarah Reilly and Caylin Meikrantz each had one. Brittany Frantz and Bucchin had two assists each.
Danielle Lilly made 23 saves for Catty in net.

Saucon Valley topped Catty 7-0.
Panther goals came from Ardie Evans, who had two, as well as Kelsey Lysek, Mikayla Deiter and Jessie Evans.
Volleyball
The Catty volleyball team dropped a match to Tamaqua 25-21, 25-19 and 25-12.
Catasauqua's Kelly Sobrinski had five aces.
The girls fell to Northwestern on Tuesday night in three sets: 25-8, 25-8, 25-7.
