The Exchange Club of Western Lehigh will hold its sixth annual Sporting Clays Shoot at Lehigh Valley Sporting Clays, 2750 Limestone St., Coplay. Proceeds earned from the fundraiser are used to support local child abuse prevention programs. Crime Victims Council of Lehigh Valley, Inc. will hold its 14th annual Rally Through the Valley benefit motorcycle poker run and pig roast 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., to help local victims of crime. The 60-mile lined route will start with registration and check-in at Nazareth Borough Park, N. Broad Street, Nazareth, and will end at Emmaus Community Park, 1401 Shimersville Road, Emmaus. Following the run, riders will be treated to an all-you-can-eat pig roast and live music by Jake Kaligis & The New Constitution, 1 to 3 p.m. To register, visit www.rallythroughthevalley.com. Sept. 18
Emmaus Historical Society's 7 p.m. program at St. John's Lutheran Church is "The Deischers - A Family of Educators." Blanche Knauss, Emaus High Class of 1900, married Jonathan Deischer in 1903. They lived in Emaus where they raised three boys and three girls. All six children became teachers in Emaus (Emmaus). The three boys married three more teachers in the district. The Emmaus Historical Society looks forward to this opportunity to present the history of this family of dedicated and gifted individuals.
