Six divers from the Parkland Diving program recently returned from the USA Junior Olympic Diving Championships in Minneapolis.

The competition is the most prestigious and competitive meet in the United States for young divers and is where future Olympians compete. The meet was used as a selection meet for the Team USA, which will compete in the upcoming Junior Pan Am Games in September. Divers who do well at the meet are selected for international competitions and national training camps.

"The divers had a great week, exploring Minneapolis, visiting the Mall of America, and testing their skills against the best divers in the country," said coach Cary Lehman. "They met Olympic silver medalist, Kelcie Bryant. The kids could hold her Olympic medal and take photos with her. They were very excited."

The meet is divided into an A meet, which represents the top 30 divers in the US from the zone competitions. The B meet represents the next 30 divers in each event from the zone competitions.

Logan Choma (Orefield) had the top placing among the Parkland divers. He placed fifth in the A meet in the 11 and under one-meter event, narrowly missing the qualification for the Pan Am Games. He also placed 19th in the A meet three-meter event.

Lexi Lehman (Orefield) placed 22nd in the"A meet 11 and under three-meter event. She won the silver medal in the one-meter event in the B meet.

Kole Cannon (Fogelsville) placed 29th in the A meet 11 and under three-meter event and 12th in the B meet one-meter event.

Carter Choma (Orefield) received a medal by placing 10th in the B meet 12-13 one-meter event.

Kelsey German (Allentown) placed 17th in the 14-15 girls' one-meter event in the B meet.

Nicole Sagl (Fogelsville) placed 25th in the B meet 16-18 one-meter event.

These results represent Parkland Diving's most successful trip to the National Championship meet. The divers are coached by Cary Lehman and Sarah Petcavage and train at Parkland High School.
