Northampton tennis team sweeps by Dieruff
The Northampton tennis team picked up a 7-0 win over Dieruff on Tuesday afternoon at home.
Leah Hodge, Sabrina Searock and Emma Angle took home singles victories while the doubles teams of Skylar Kostick and Cece Lebus, Mary Angle and Georgia Weaver, Delaney Haggerty and Jolene Stearns and Jenna Meixsell and Paige Easton all won their doubles matches against the Huskies.
The Kids were edged by Pleasant Valley 4-3. It came down to number-one doubles where PV's Madison Olexson and Emily Thek came away with a tight, 4-6, 6-4, 6-2 victory to secure the team win, knocking off Northampton's Hodge and Searock.
The NHS girls took two of the three singles matches with Hodge coming away with a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Olexson. Thek would knock off Searock 6-3, 6-2 at number-two before Emma Angle won at number-three over Kara Urland 6-3, 6-1.
The Bears won two of the next three doubles matches as only Weaver and Mary Angle won number-two doubles over Sarina Tufano and Mackie Caffory 6-3, 6-3.
NHS fell to Emmaus 6-1 in a recent match.
The number-one doubles team of Cece Lebus and Grace Lewis won by default for the Kids only victory.
The girls had a 4-3 defeat of the Hurricanes.
Three doubles wins made the difference for the Kids in the win. Weaver and Mary Angle had a close victory over Abby Frankenfield and Katie Kamezt, 6-3, 7-6 (5). Stearns and Haggerty won 6-2, 6-2 over Nataliya Atimendova and Prakruti Patel at number-three doubles and Meixsell and Easton won in three sets, 6-4, 5-7, 6-0 over the number-four team of Briana Canady and Maris Deluce.
Emma Angle was the lone singles winner, rallying to knock off Emily Moss 1-6, 6-4, 7-5.
Northampton topped Allen in a 4-3 victory.
Hodge was a close 4-6, 7-6 (5), 6-4 winner at number-one singles over Jelena Bajic and Emma Angle took the number-three singles match 6-1, 6-0 over Ree Moh.
Weaver and Mary Angle were again winners at number-two over Genesis Moran and Lilian Alcantara 6-4, 7-5. Stearns and Haggerty won at number-three over Mary Gilbert and Karina Mendez 6-0, 6-3.
