Charotin Hose Company is hosting a Bingo Extravaganza on Sept. 14. The cost of a ticket includes a home-cooked roast pork dinner and 15 rounds of cash bingo. A cash bar will be open for beverages.

The Bingo Extravaganza will be held at the Slovak Center, 1223 Fifth St. Bingo starts at 4:30 p.m. and doors open an hour before that.

According to the borough Facebook site, the North Catasauqua Betterment Committee has had a few requests to see if they could do something for National Breast Cancer Awareness month in October.

"We have a unique idea for small Town USA that will remind the public of this important issue and remember those who have dealt with it in one way or another," the site says.

"The idea is to purchase a PINK Cancer Awareness Ribbon light-up pole decoration that will be hung in the middle of North Catasauqua Park during the month of October. The ribbon pole decoration measures 3 feet by 5 feet. For $125, a person's name will be put on a plastic plaque, just like the snowflake decoration plaques. It can be simply someone's name or in memory of someone."

A maximum of three sponsorships will help to purchase the pole decoration. Those three sponsorships will allow one name each to appear on the plaque.
