Boys soccer opens with a win

The Catty boys soccer team opened its season with a win last Friday.

The Rough Riders came from behind to win 4-1 in a nonleague contest with Northern Lehigh.

The Bulldogs scored the first goal off a free kick by Sean Mulcahy for a 1-0 lead.

But, Catty answered back with a goal from Ethan Hill, which was assisted by Lester Estrada.

Hermann Diamacoune would score the next two goals to put Catty up 3-1. The first one was assisted by Hill while the second one was assisted by Brian Cisneros.

The fourth goal was scored by Nick Rossnagle and assisted by Estrada.

Catty had 10 shots on goal while Northern Lehigh goalkeeper Nate Rex made six saves. Northern Lehigh had six shots on goal, with Catty goalkeeper Gunnar Pattison coming up with five saves.

The boys would fall to 1-1 overall with a 1-0 loss to Palisades on Tuesday.

The Pirates Matt Moninghoff scored the game's only goal at 4:25 of the first half on an assist from Tyler Andre.

Palisades outshot Catty just 4-2 in the game.

Northern Lehigh's Rachel Pappas scored two goals and added two assists in Northern Lehigh's 5-1 girls soccer win over Catty.

Karlyna Kemery added a goal and two assist in the winning effort.

The Bulldogs also got goals from Morgan Zellner and Lexie Merkle.

Catty's only goal came from Krystaglynn Roberts.

Northern Lehigh outshot Catty 15-7 in the game.

The girls fell to 0-2 with a 9-0 loss to the Pirates on Tuesday.

Sidney Bastone took care of all the scoring the Pirates would need with four goals and an assist. Other scorers were: Kelsey Scott, Ally Badman, Emily Bennett, Annie Lodwig and Rachel Colletti.

Catty field hockey fell to LVC power Northampton on Friday afternoon, 4-1.

The Kids opened up a 3-1 lead going into halftime with two goals from Makenna Marhefka and another from Kate Fehnel. Megan Wiest assisted on Marhefka's first goal and Wiest would add Northampton's fourth goal in the second half.

Catty's score came from Quinn Bachman, who got an assist from Hannah Edwards in the first half. In the second half, Rachel Sell found the back of the net on a penalty stroke.

Janae Matos made 14 saves for CHS while the Kids Shannon Dalton stopped nine.

The Kids won the JV game 8-1.

The boys cross country team was led by Jacob Rusnock's 26th place finish in the Lion Invitational last weekend. The boys took 20th overall.

Spencer Phillips was 90th in 20:11, Chris Sobrinski was 130th in 22:23, Randal Pacchioli was 135th in 22:35, Zach Decamp was 137th in 22:58 and Patrick Corrocher was 148th in 32:26
