House numbers still on Allen radar

Property owners in Allen Township will have to wait to learn if they must place reflective numbers in front of their residences.

The issue originally was not placed on the agenda for the last supervisors meeting. Board Vice Chairman Bruce Frack, however, brought the issue up for discussion.

The reflective numbers would allow emergency personnel responding to a fire or medical call to find the home without unnecessary delay.

Frack said the matter could be presented as early as the next meeting. He noted the proposed legislation is still being worked on.

At an earlier meeting, the supervisors discussed the size of the house numbers, which could run 3 to 4 inches high. The location of the house numbers has also been discussed.

A decision would have to be made on where the house numbers should be placed. A more unified system would be needed for cases where mailboxes are located across the road from a home or where multiple residences are situated at one location.

In other business, the board unanimously agreed to install four stop signs at Willow Ridge intersections.

Fire company officials also reported activity for July, which included three dwelling fires, one brush fire, 22 alarms, two ambulance assists, a motor vehicle crash in which the car struck a dwelling, one crash involving rescue, one brush fire, one report of a wire down and one smoke investigation.
