BETHLEHEM: City firefighters promoted

Fire department and city officials invited friends, family and colleagues into the Rotunda the morning of Aug. 14 to celebrate the promotion of three longtime firefighters.

Jacqueline A. Lilley-McCammon was officially promoted to assistant chief in July but was given a hearty community congratulations in this public ceremony.

Lilly-McCammon first joined the department in 1988. She was promoted in lieutenant in 2006 and captain in 2010. She is an executive fire officer for the National Fire Academy, which offers advanced leadership and professional training.

Christopher Danyluk is promoted to captain in Third Platoon. He joined the department in 1989 and was promoted to lieutenant in 2003.

Larry F. Koplin is promoted to lieutenant in Third Platoon and joined the department in 1995.

John Callahan said this was likely his last such ceremony as mayor, and that he is proud the city has maintained about the same number of firefighters over his 10 years in office, unlike many other municipalities in the state.

Callahan said ultimately the fire department is about people, and all its members are professional, committed, brave and determined.
