Tilghman M. Oswald, 94, of Neffs, died Aug. 8, 2013, in his home.

He was the husband of Linda L. (Shook) Oswald and the late Velma M. (Gerhart) Oswald.

Born June 4, 1919, in Orefield, he was the son of the late Francis E. and Mabel G. (Nagle) Oswald.

He faithfully and honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II, achieving the rank of seaman first class.

He was an appraiser for the Lehigh County Assessment Office, Allentown, for 26 years before retiring in 1990.

A member of Union Evangelical Lutheran Church, Schnecksville, he formerly served on church council.

He formerly served as chief of the Neffs Volunteer Fire Company.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by son, Rodney L. Shook of New Tripoli.

He was predeceased by a brother, Harold F., who died July 16.
